Guardianships and Conservatorships

Guardianships and Conservatorships are needed when a person is not able to make sound decisions for him or herself–everyday decisions and/or financial decisions. They are most often needed for children under 18 years of age and the elderly.

Obtaining a Durable Power of Attorney is a smart choice to make before needing assistance in managing one’s affairs to prevent the involvement of the courts in arranging care, and to provide for a designated person or persons to manage the finances of an incapacitated loved one.

Affinity can help create Durable Powers of Attorney. If one does not exist when needed, we can guide our clients through the process of establishing a Guardianship and/or Conservatorship to ensure the safety, well-being, and financial security of a loved one.
